K-pop Korean Lesson part 2 !! <3

❤️ Hello Everyone~! ❤️

Hope you're all having a GREAT day so far:)!! Teuida is back again this week with some K-pop Korean lessons! I got a ton of requests for different songs that you guys were curious about so we're going to be continuing with a part two~ We'll be moving on to more cultural topics/AMA after this week so make sure to leave your questions below :)

1.Fighting - BSS ft. Lee Young Ji ❤️

This was a song request sent in by multiple of you! I'll take that as a sign that the lyrics are probably confusing when translated & try to help you guys understand! I love this song and LYJ featuring just makes it even better! Let's learn the lyrics~ 😎

Let's look at the chorus:

반복되는 하루에
시작이 되는 이 노래
네 옆에서 불러주겠어
힘내야지 뭐 어쩌겠어
파이팅 해야지
파이팅 해야지

I love this song! It's very encouraging as you will probably see soon!

Let's break down the selected lyrics! 🔥

반복되는 하루에

반복되는: something that repeats (over and over)
하루: day

So! This sentence: 반복되는 하루에 would translate to "on a repetative day" or "on a day that repeats over and over again" 😥

2. 힘내야지 뭐 어쩌겠어

힘내: say strong
야지: gotta/have to
뭐 어쩌겠어: what else can we do?

This lyric would mean: "We gotta stay strong, what else can we do?" It might sound a little awkward but it basically means "we don't have any choice but to be strong" 😃

3. 파이팅 해야지

파이팅: fighting (stay strong, let's go!)
해야지: should/ must/ gotta

This sentence just means "We gotta stay strong!" Fighting~!! There isn't really a direct direct translation for "fighting" but it basically means let's go or "we got this!" but when used with 해야지 it translates more close to "stay strong" or "keep going!" Hope that makes sense ❤️

Overall, the theme of this chorus is basically: On days that are repetative and long, we're going to be here for you (singing this song). We gotta stay strong, we don't have any other choice. We have to keep going! 😎 super encouraging right!

2. S-Class- Stray Kids 😎

I had never listened to this song before 3+ of you requested it but I can totally understand why you requested it! The English translations are really unclear and also! As one of you mentioned, there is word play in these lyrics! Let's look into it:

The song is called "특" which means Best or Special 🤑

They repeat the word: 특별 in this song which means "special" as well!
- You would usually call something special "특별해"
From this we get 별: which means STAR! A completely different meaning but also ties in with the lyrics~!
- This is so interesting that the lyricist was able to tie all of these together.
Next we have "별난 놈" which means "weird guy"
- this comes from the word "별나다" which means odd, strange, weird, or eccentric. The chorus says "I'm the 별난 놈"
Lastly, we have "별의 별" which you might think means "star of stars" but it actually means "all kinds of or all sorts of" In these lyrics they say they do "별의 별 일" which means they do "all kinds of jobs"
- you can also use it like: 별의 별 사람 (all kinds of people)

This was one of the most difficult song lyrics for me to translate and honestly probably one of the hardest for you guys to understand. There are so many different words used for wordplay but I hope I was able to make it clear for you guys! ❤️

That was SUCH a long explanation, I hope it made sense tho!

I’ve seen and heard many times that when you go to Korea one of the things people asks you is your blood type and having that information about you is important. Why is that?

Hello!!! This is kind of true but also not at the same time. While it was really common to ask for someone's blood type before, it's not as common these days! 😃 The reason that they would ask though is because blood types in Korea are tied to personality (kind of like the Korean version of astrology)! Not a lot of people take it super super seriously, but it does still exist. These days, people would be more likely to ask for your MBTI though~!
