01. ๋จ์ฌ์น ๐ค
This one might be one that you've seen in a drama or even a movie if you watch Korean movies! Let's break it down :)
๋จ (nam) : short for ๋จ์ (nam-ja) which means man
์ฌ (sa): short for ์ฌ๋ (sa-ram) which means person
์น (chin): short for ์น๊ตฌ (chin-gu) which means friend
This word means "guy-friend" and I know it LOWKEY sounds like the world for boyfriend but is not. It is BOY space FRIEND and is used to refer to your male friends!
This sentence means "I ate lunch with my guy friend!"
P.S. change the ๋จ to ์ฌ (short for ์ฌ์- girl) and it would be girl friend! (girl SPACE friend)
02. ๊ฟ์ผ ๐คฃ
We've talked about this before but I wanted to put it in this series so you guys can refer to it when reviewing common slangs!
Let's break it down!
๊ฟ (ggul) means honey in korean ๐ฏ
์ผ (jam) is short for ์ฌ๋ฏธ์๋ค [je-mi-it-da] : (it is) fun or enjoyable
Adding the korean world for honey, infront of the short version of 'fun,' emphasizes the word and makes it extra positive! In this case, it means 'really' fun instead of just fun.
Here is an example sentence: "์ด ๊ฒ์ ๊ฟ์ผ์ด์ผ" which means "this game is super fun" ๐ฎ
03. ๋ ์ ๐ค
This one is one that I personally use quite often and I also think you guys can use it as a replacement for ์ง์ง (jjin-ja)
There isn't really a need to break this one down because it is just an English word phonetically translated to Korean!
๋ ์ (le-al) - The Korean way of saying the word "real" in English
It just means "really" and can be a replacement for the word ์ง์ง in sentences! Let's use it in a sentence :) P.S. this one is very casual and is more like something you'd use with friends, not really as often as you'd say ์ง์ง!
04. ๊ฐ์ถ ๐ฅ
THIS one is something that I use often and is seriously going to make you sound like a native!
Let's break it down!
๊ฐ (gang) - short for ๊ฐํ๋ค (gang-ha-da) which means strong
์ถ (chu) - short for ์ถ์ฒ (chu-cheon) which means recommendation!
This slang means "strongly recommend" so if you want to recommend somewhere to your friend you can say. I really liked that restaurant! ๊ฐ์ถ!!!
Song of the Week โค๏ธ
You guys always ask me for song recommendations so I thought this would be a good opportunity for you guys to learn some Korean through K-pop! Enjoy ๐
