1. ๋ฐฐ (bae) ๐ ๐ฆ ๐ค
The word ๋ฐฐ actually has three different meanings: Pear, Boat, and Stomach. Since the three meanings are so vastly different, you should be able to tell the difference easily depending on the context!
Example sentence: โ๋ฐฐ ์ํ์!โ (bae ap-pa-yo) which means โmy stomach hurts.โ
2. ์ฌ๊ณผ (sa-gwa) ๐ง ๐
The word ์ฌ๊ณผ is probably one that you heard a lot in K-dramas as the word for apology! Not only does this word mean apology, it also means apple! But have no fear since ์ฌ๊ณผ in terms of the apology is mostly used as a verb form (์ฌ๊ณผํ๋ค)!
Example sentence: "์ฌ๊ณผ ๋ฐ์์ด?" (sa-gwa bad-a-sseo?) which can mean both did you get an apple or did you get an apology!
3. ๋ (nun) โ๏ธ ๐
The word ๋ has two different meanings: eye(s), and snow! This is also a pretty contextual homonym since we can determine what someone is talking about based on if there is snow or not!
A sentence that could be a bit confusing might be: "๋์ด ์์๋ค!" (nun-e ye-bbu-da!) which can mean โthe snow is pretty!โ or โyour eyes are pretty!โ But if someone is complimenting your eyes they will probably add your name to the sentence!
4. ์ฐจ (cha) ๐ ๐ต
This word is by far one of the words that Iโve heard Korean learners complain about. ์ฐจ has two different meanings: tea and car. Since both words are pretty common in daily conversation, this can be a confusing one! However, the word for car is actually ์๋์ฐจ (ja-dong-cha) but when used in daily conversation, is shortened to ์ฐจ!
Example sentence: "์ฐจ ์ข์ํ์ธ์?" (cha jo-ah-ha-se-yo?) which means โdo you like tea?โ Since the word for tea and car is the same, in sentences where the two can be confused most will use the full word for car (์๋์ฐจ) instead of ์ฐจ!
