01. I'm not sure if this topic has been shared but what are some phrases I could use If I went to Korea for the first time?
GREAT QUESTION! I know so many of you are traveling here this summer or maybe you have future plans so let's learn some helpful phrases that you all might need when you're here as a tourist! β€οΈ (aside from the obvious thankyou and hello ofc)
What to say when someone is in your way/you're trying to get through
μ§λκ°κ²μ (ji-na-gal-gae-yo)
μ μλ§μ (jam-si-man-yo)
You might recognize both of these phrases from other instances but let's learn about the first one first! μ§λκ°κ²μ means "i'll pass by" literally BUT the way it's used is the same as the english phrase "coming through!"
The other phrase you might use in this situation (or others) is μ μλ§μ
which means "one moment please!" or "just a second." You could, of course, use this in other instances such as when you're about to pay and you need time to get cash out of your wallet etc. But in this case, you could use it when you're trying to get by someone (esp if you're in a store or public transport!) It is polite and all-inclusive because it just means "one moment please!"
Hope that helps y'all!! Let me know if you want more of these! β€οΈπ
02. I donβt understand what is the difference between βnoβ and βhiβ cuz I had heard same thing μλ ?
I had to read this question a couple of times before I understood what you meant!!!! Thank you for asking this and for our beginner learners I feel like this would be great to hear!
So bottom line, a lot of things in Korean sound similar and people in dramas/real life tend to speak very fast! What you probably heard when you heard μλ when someone was saying "no" was μλμ! When said really quickly I see how the two would sound similar but I hope this helps answer your question!
Let's go over a couple more things that sound similar that you all might get confused with!
μ°¨ vs. μ (tea/car vs. to sleep)
κ΅΄ vs. κΏ (oyster vs. honey)
λ°°λ¬ vs. λ°°ν (delivery vs. stomach ache)
Hope that helped~ β€οΈ
03. I was wondering if you could give a recipe for kimchi fried rice. A rice themed newsletter would be fun!
I love talking about food (as a certified foodie) So let me know if you want a longer newsletter about other foods but let me share my FAV rice dishes and their recipes :)
I'm going to give you a word every week and you guys have to try to make a sentence with that word!!! π₯
Word of the week: λ°₯ (rice)
