Hello Everyone~~!!! We're back with another weekly newsletter β€οΈ You guys seemed to really like the K-pop newsletter but a few of you did tell me that you are in the small percentage that prefers other topics SO in order to make you allll happy: This week's topic is........
πππ
...Korean Slang!!! This week, we will be going over some Korean slang words that you might not know from studying Korean! They are definitely harder to find out about but VERY useful in daily life. Hope you enjoy this topic and don't forget to leave me some more topics in the form at the end! π₯
κ°μ§: derived from the Japanese word for 'style' 'atmosphere' means "cool in Korean"
~λλ€: to appear, to come out
The phrase "κ°μ§ λλ€" means you look really cool, or they look really cool, or this looks really cool. Basically think of it like "swag" haha because it is the same vibe! πΆοΈ
People will often say this when their friend looks unexpectedly good one day or if they're looking at a celebrity too! π
Example sentence: "μΌ! λ μ§μ§ κ°μ§ λλ€" - "Yo, you look really cool!"
02. κ³΅μ£Όλ³ (gong-ju-byeong) π
Meaning: princess complex/superiority complex
Let's break it down:
곡주: princess
λ³: disease / sickness
This phrase is actually pretty commonly used I'm not going to lie LOL. But it basically describes someone who acts like a princess. For example, someone who thinks they're too good for certain places or things or thinks that they're too pretty & that people should treat them as such. π§πP.S. There is a male version which is μμλ³ (prince complex) and is basically the same thing lol.
Example sentence: "λ΄ μ¬λμ κ³΅μ£Όλ³ κ±Έλ Έμ΄" - "My sister caught the princess disease" π
λΆ: comes from λΆκ΄΄ which means collapse or breakdown
This word means "mental breakdown" and is basically used the exact same way as the English phrase! It can also be used when you're so confused that you have no idea what to do so you just sit there. Basically the same as the English version πΆ
One of you gave me this good idea to have a word of the week challenge! I love this idea SO the plan is: I'm going to give you a word every week and you guys have to try to make a sentence with that word!!! π₯ If you don't want yours to be shared let me know:)
(P.S. some of you said that this is hard cuz the translations you find might not be correct, I am purposely giving you easy words that are easily translated)
Leave your sentences below!!!! (The feedback form)
