K-pop Korean lesson time~~~~
Hello Everyone~! β€οΈ
Hope you're all having a wonderful wonderful day! It was Lunar New Year weekend in Korea this past weekend (which is why this newsletter is a day later than usual) SO HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE !!!!
This week, we're going to be learning some Korean from K-pop lyrics again!! We haven't done this segment in a while but I know y'all have been waiting patiently!!! Let's get right into it~~~
β€οΈ From. Sherly
01. Love 119 - RIIZE π
This song has been ALL OVER my fyp and I guess some of you like it as well!!! Let's learn some Korean from this song~
Okay PHEW that one was long. What do you guys think, can you figure out what these lyrics mean from just the literal translations of the words?! Well if you guessed "In between a large crowd (of people), In that moment, I only saw you" then you were right!!!!! Use this lyric the next time ur flirting ig~ β€οΈ
02. To You - Seventeen β
As a fellow Carat I LOVE when y'all suggest Seventeen songs LOL let's learn some Korean from the lyrics!!!
These lyrics are so romantic and it makes me get butterflies thinking abt Woozi writing this HAHAH But BASICALLY, the first part of the lyrics means "If there was such a thing as everlasting love" -- "That would be YOU" and they use the word λΉμ as you because while it isn't used very often, it can be used as a term of endearment to your loved one!!! This one is so romantic~ Just in time for valentines hehe
03. Plot Twist - TWS π
This song is a BOP and it is really high up on the K-pop chart right now! Super proud of TWS in their debut~ Let's learn from Plot Twist!
This one might be a little hard to pronounce/learn so let's just do one line!
Let's break it down!
첫: first
λ§λ¨μ: meetingμ
λ무: too, very
μ΄λ €μ: hard
I'm sure you guys have already guessed what this means! It means "Meeting someone for the first time is too hard" The phrase "첫 λ§λ¨" is often used to describe when you first meet someone (but mostly when its romantic haha). But if you guys use this sentence as a stem, you can replace 첫 λ§λ¨ with anything else! For example: νκ΅μ΄λ λ무 μ΄λ €μ! Which means "Korean is too hard" The difference between μ and λ comes from if the previous letter (if there is a character on the bottom or not!
Hope that makes sense~
Word of the Week β€οΈ
We're bringing it back!!! I'm going to give you a word every week and you guys have to try to make a sentence with that word!!! π₯ If you don't want yours to be shared let me know:)
