Let's get right into this week's issue of Teugether! โบ๏ธ
What's the news in Korea this week?! ๐ฐ๐ท
Maybe some of you might have heard about it but a Korean author named Han Kang (ํ๊ฐ) won the Nobel prize for literature this year!!!!
People are so happy and bookstore orders for her works are literally being FLOODED right now. She is the first Korean author to have won a nobel prize and also the 18th woman in history to win! We're so happy for her!!!
She also refused to have a press conference as she felt that it was insensitive to celebrate during a time of war and genocide around the world. And I respect her so much for that!! โค๏ธ
Check out the book: It's called "The Vegetarian" & show her some support! ๐
If you don't read here's a podcast about the book!
Korean Slang of the Week !
๊ณต์ฃผ๋ณ ๐ธ
(gong-ju-byeong)
This slang is unfortunately not the nicest thing to say but also commonly used between
friends and family haha (you'll get it)
Let's break it down!
๊ณต์ฃผ: princess
๋ณ: disease/sickness/illness
Can you guess what it means?! If you guessed princess disease you're right (kind of) ๊ณต์ฃผ๋ณ is basically what you say when your friend or family member is acting like a spoiled little princess (it would be similar to saying brat)! There is also a male version which is "์์๋ณ" (prince disease: wang-ja-byeong).
