Cutest trend in Korea that you MUST try πββ¬ πΈ
β€οΈ Hello Everyone !!!! β€οΈ
Let's get right into this week's issue of Teugether! βΊοΈ
What's the news in Korea this week?! π°π·
I know all of our ARMYs are already aware of this butttt.... this is the week that all of BTS FINALLY gets out of the military!!! πππ
It's also BTS Festa Month!!! And the anticipation is REALLL after almost 2 years of resting, BTS IS BACK! The HYBE building even put up a huge sign commemorating the legendary come back!
In honor of their legendary comeback, let's learn a term about the military - As some of you may know, all Korean men have to enlist in the military for 1.5 years and when they finish its a big big deal (especially if they're in the entertainment industry like BTS)
μ μ (jeo-nyeok) - discharge
When someone gets out of the military it's called "μ μ" - if you want to congratulate your bias from getting out you can say:
"μ μ μΆνν΄(μ)" which means congratulations for getting discharged!
Stay tuned for upcoming BTS content in the month of June on Teuida's social media + newsletter 보λΌν΄~ π
Korean Slang of the Week π°π·
"μκ²/ν ν "
Okay so you ALL know that Koreans love categorizing themselves into different "personality types" which explains why MBTI (16 personalities) became so popular here! β
But there is a new category that is trending right now!
Let's break it down:
μκ² (eh-gen): stands for estrogen
ν ν (te-to): stands for testosterone
OKAY before we talk about it I have a disclaimer - these categories are NOT gendered and honestly just a term that describes two different personality types (I'm not a super huge fan of the gendered aspect of it either so I ignore the names themselves) but nevertheless, it's trending and very relevant to memes these days so I figured i'd still keep y'all informed β€οΈ
μκ²:
likes cute things (stickers, plushies etc.)
attention to detail
active on social media
prefers staying home
overthinker
ν ν :
likes doing active things (going out hiking etc.)
likes taking risks
not very attentive to details but cares about bigger pictures
I've been getting so many more learning Korean questions these days and I feel like so many of you are struggling to stay motivated/not procrastinate! Let me give you a couple of tips~
1. Procrastinate less with the Pomodoro technique π
This is a technique I used a TON when I was studying but it is basically focusing on a task for 25 minutes, then taking a 5 minute break - do this 4 times and you've studied more than enough for the day!
2. Gamify Learning π²
I genuinely think gamifying learning was something that TRULY helped me enjoy studying more - the EASIEST way to do this (and I'm not biased i swear) is try to maintain a streak on a learning app (TEUIDA :D) - seeing the amount of days that you've done something is SO motivating and makes learning feel like a game
3.Bring back the fun π
If you've hit a learning rut (we've all been there), try to remember why you wanted to learn in the first place. Was it to understand K-dramas? or song lyrics? Whatever that motivation was - go back and do that! Go back and watch your favorite drama without subtitles or try to translate a song you like to English <3 - what's learning without some fun!
