My FAVORITE matcha recipe ๐ + a new advice column?!
here's my advice~
โค๏ธ Hello Everyone !!!! โค๏ธ
Happy belated Chuseok (that was why we didn't have a newsletter last week) BUT we're back again this week for a new one :)
Let's get right into this week's issue of Teugether! โบ๏ธ
What's trending in Korea this week?! ๐ฐ๐ท
I'm not too sure if this is SUPER popular trend but I found this online and I thought it was so funny + that people should start doing this more often HAHAH
Some Korean parents are uploading their babies pictures with wine/whiskey that was made the same year that their child was born ๐คฃ This isn't just babies but people are looking for alcohol in general from the year they were born!
This stems from the concept "์๋น (seng-bin)"
which stands for ์๋ (birth year) and ๋นํฐ์ง (vintage) !!
(BRB looking for wine that was bottled the year that I was born because I want to participate in this trend too ๐)
Korean Slang of the week! โค๏ธ
๋ฒ ํ (beh-peu)
๋ฒ (short for ๋ฒ ์คํธ): best
ํ (short for ํ๋ ๋): friend
I'm sure you guys can already guess what this slang means. BEST FRIEND!! (Since the words are just loan words for English I haven't put the romanization)
This slang is honestly so commonly used that I wouldn't even call it a slang anymore tbh
Instead of saying ์ ์ผ ์นํ ์น๊ตฌ (jae-il chin-han ching-gu) which means "closest friend" , ๋ฒ ํ just rolls right off the tongue doesn't it?! โค๏ธ
"I struggle with this a lot, but how do you suggest I get over being shy or embarrassed to speak Korean with and in front of Korean people. Iโm pretty shy normally but this makes me suuuuuper shy. And Iโm worried that I wonโt sound really good either."

Hi friend:)
I completely understand being afraid or embarrased to start a new language! I just want to start by saying - you're doing so well!
I think the best advice I can give you is: take baby steps! Obviously if you're a shy person it'll be hard to suddenly start speaking BUT I think if you slowly start to incorporate Korean into speaking with Korean people, it will get easier day by day! Start by talking about yourself! (I find that when learning a new langauge: talking about yourself sounds the most natural + is the easiest!
Just try to be better than you were yesterday, no one expects you to be perfect right away.
To be completely frank I have NEVER made Korean shaved ice before (๋น์ bing-soo) BUT since you asked, I did some research and found this recipe online! There are English subtitles so if you have trouble understanding, turn them on!! โค๏ธ
