Hope you're all having a great great day so far!!! I was so happy because today the weather in Korea was PERFECT (it's finally not cold anymore..) AND the cherry blossoms have bloooomed finally !!! I feel like spring came so late this year but I'm happy it's finally here! Anyways, without further ado...
Let's get right into this week's issue of Teugether! โบ๏ธ
What's the happening in Korea this week?! ๐ฐ๐ท
WELL It's April and you know what that means?!!!
It's CHERRY BLOSSOM SEASONNN!!!!
It was especially "looked forward to?" this year because it was SOSOSO cold for so long like I was wearing a puffer jacket until two days ago guys... it was bad... ๐ฐ
But the Cherry Blossoms have FINALLY bloomed so you KNOW that everyone and their mother is out there trying to take a look. This year, they even started a new thing on Naver Maps where you can see the specific locations where they've bloomed!!! It made it SO easy to find a place to see them. ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ
LOOK AT HOW CONVENIENT IT IS!!!
Cherry blossom in Korean is "๋ฒ๊ฝ" (beot-kkot)" and "๋ฒ๊ฝ๋ช ์" means scenic or famous spots that you can look at the cherry blossoms!
All you have to do is open up the naver maps app and press the "๋ฒ๊ฝ๋ช ์" button (circled in pink) and you can see ALL of the places where the cherry blossoms have bloomed all around Korea!!! ๐ธ
I love technology hahahahha and for those of you who didn't know about this I hope you can now find your perfect cherry blossom spot now~ ๐
Korean Slang of the Week ๐ฐ๐ท
"๋ํผ์ "
(nwe-pe-shyeol)
Let's break it down:
๋: brain
ํผ์ : taken from the Korean romanization of official (์คํผ์ ) but get rid of the ์ค
This one might be hard to understand from just the breakdown but let me try to explain it!
We all know what it is when something is official right?!! The meaning is the same in Korean so when someone calls something ์คํผ์ it means its literally "official" or "proven"
BUT the word "๋ํผ์ " mixes the word brain and official to make a phrase which means " personal opinon"
It's basically a way of saying "you're just saying your opinion!" ๐ or an accurate translation would be "you're just making that uppp"
This one is hard so I'll give you all an example! โค๏ธ
Boss: If you work for 50 hours a week, you'll get healthier!
Me: what??? why that doesn't sound healthy!
Boss: No, trust me it's true!
Me: That's so ๋ํผ์ ... you're just making that up...
I THINK this might be a universal thing between friends because we definitely do this!!! OF COURSE only when we're super close and no one is going to get offended but
I personall call my friends ์์ ์จ or ์์ค๋ง during the time of the year that they're a year older than me (my birthday is pretty late on in the year) ORRR I even start calling them ์ธ๋ or ์ค๋น to annoy them hahah
All in the spirit of fun and not to offend anyone but I do think this is universal no matter where you go!
