Hope you're all having a great week so farrrr!!! Teuida's newsletter is back! I'm so sorry I had to rest for a bit because of exams + work + health :( But I am back and I missed you all very very much! I hope you guys missed me too hehe~
Let's get right into this week's issue of Teugether! ☺️
PS. I haven't been receiving a lot of questions from yall these days :((( please tell me if you guys want topic changes or something..r u still thereeee....???? (If you're reading this please tell me ur favorite Korean food teehee
Y'all what is the number one rule about trends in Korea...??? Yes, they are always related to food LOL
The current trend is actually something that has come back into popularity and I think it might be safe to say 2025 is the year of dubai chocolate....
The NEW trend in Korea is actually 두바이쫀득쿠키 which is dubai chewy cookie. It has been going so viral to the point that it's the #1 searched food on Coupang eats which is like our uber eats! 👀
Anyways, it's been going crazy these days and the craziest part is the price.... tell me why one of these cookies is like 10 thousand won (which is like 7$ and INSANE price for a cookie)......😯
I haven't been able to try it yet BUT if I do, I will let y'all know if it's worth the hype... but for now I will leave you with a Mukbang that I think about once a day (atleast) ❤️
P.S. the short version is 두쫀쿠 (if you wanna be trendy~)
Korean Slang of the Week 🎶
“유리 멘탈"
(yoo-ree men-tal) 🍸
This slang is so irreplaceable by an english word so I really wanted to teach it to you!
Let's break it down:
유리: glass
멘탈: mental(ity)
Okay I know it makes no sense because what is glass mental...? If you all didn't know, 멘탈 is Konglish because we don't actually use it to mean "mental" in English but we use it to say "mindset" or "mental strength."! For example if you say "멘탈 나갔어" which means "mental is gone" it means you're losing your mind! 😥
As for glass mental - it means glass mentality and it is used to describe a person who is mentally weak and can't handle a lot of stress. 💔
What do you think.. do you have 유리 멘탈? (i think I do... hahah)
I LOVE THIS QUESTION because I just made a Christmas playlist~~
To answer your first question, Christmas in Korea is actually pretty centered around couple activities! It is less of a family event when you give each other presents and have dinner and more of a day that couples go out to a fancy dinner and have a cute date!!! This is why on Christmas pretty much every nice restaurant is full... & it's super hard to get a reservation.
(And for single people LIKE MYSELF we just hang out with our friends LOL)
For the second question... here is a list of songs I think are super wintery~
