Alright first things first, did you know that 2023 it is the โyear of the rabbitโ? ๐
If yโall knew already then youโre probably more familiar with Korean culture but if notโkeep reading! ๐คฉ
So, 2023 is the year of the rabbit. What does this mean? The best way that I can describe it is that there are animals assigned to each year and itโs a type of Zodiac in Korea! ๐ฐ While it was initially derived from Ancient China, Korea has its own little spin on things. ๐
The Korean Zodiac can be referred to in Korean as ๋ (ddi). While the Zodiac is believed to give insight into your personality based on the year you were born, it is not as common as blood type or MBTI and from my experience, not taken too seriously. Itโs more like just an interesting thing to know and fun to compare with other people to check your compatibility! โค๏ธ
There is an animal cycle (cuz obviously there isnโt an infinite number of animals lol) which consists of 12 Zodiac signs in order. They are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Last year was the year of the tiger and this one is the year of the rabbit! If you were born in 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, or 2011 then you are also a Rabbit-๋ ! Or ํ ๋ผ๋ (tok-kki-ddi). My birthday is in 2001 and that makes me ๋ฑ๋ (bem-ddi) which is Snake-ddi.
If you read until this point, let me know in the google form at the end of the newsletter which ๋ you are (you can look up your year of birth with โKorean Zodiacโ next to it)!!!
